Hairy Tales to be ported to Linux if enough interest is shown  View Printable Version

GamesHairy Tales, the first game fully developed by Arges studio, is an Action/Puzzler built with Unity3D. It is already available for Win/Mac on Desura.

After many requests on Steam Greenlight for a Linux port the developers replied that it's all a matter of upgrading the game engine to version 4, but they are not sure if it's worth the cost.

GamesFree and open source roguelike/RPG Tales Of Maj'Eyal (ToME) version 1.0 has been finally released after being in development for more than 3 years.

DarkGod (lead developer of the project) has released 4 release candidates in just two weeks time to release version 1.0 as a new year gift to roguelike lovers.

Valve: Linux More Viable Than Windows 8 for Gaming  View Printable Version

GamesIn a presentation at Ubuntu Developer Summit currently going on in Denmark, Drew Bliss from Valve said that Linux is more viable than Windows 8 for gaming. Windows 8 ships with its own app store and it is moving away from an open platform model.

GamesA well known company, Valve, that distributes nonfree computer games with Digital Restrictions Management, recently announced it would distribute these games for GNU/Linux. What good and bad effects can this have?

I suppose that availability of popular nonfree programs on GNU/Linux can boost adoption of the system. However, our goal goes beyond making this system a “success”; its purpose is to bring freedom to the users. Thus, the question is how this development affects users' freedom.
