I've been reading a few news stories about the latest pre2.0 of The Gimp and none of the screenshots seemed to capture the major changes that have been done to it. Since I've been using pre2.0 (gimp1_3-2.0-0.pre1) for a couple of weeks now, I though I'd throw up some screenshots and try to focus on the things that have really be revamped.
The major difference between the 1.2x and the 1.3x Gimp, from a GUI perspective, is the inclusion of the dialogs on each image. This makes it a lot easier for newbies to navigate within The Gimp, although I've been using The Gimp for so long that I've gotten use to having them not there, I don't use them much, but as the memory starts to go, it's nice to have them there. Some of the editing functions have slightly changed also, with the most notable being that it is far easier to manipulate text within pre2.0.
I'd have to say that pre2.0 is a massive step forward for The Gimp, but take a look and see if you agree. The screenshots can be seen here
