Running Chiaki in Mageia with AppImage
Saturday, June 27 2020 @ 07:07 PM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

MageiaMagiea sets QT_PLUGIN_PATH by default. Usually as 'QT_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins:/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kcms:'

If you are using an AppImage with QT, you need to unset this, or set it to the location of the AppImage.

One example is Chiaki - the Client for PlayStation 4 Remote Play for Linux (and other OS's) - https://github.com/thestr4ng3r/chiaki

So if you download Chiaki to /home/{youruser}/Downloads, in order to run it you need to do:

export QT_PLUGIN_PATH=/home/{youruser}/Downloads/Chiaki-v1.2.1-Linux-x86_64.AppImage

Then run:

/home/{youruser}/Downloads/Chiaki-v1.2.1-Linux-x86_64.AppImage

Or you can make a quick bash script in /usr/local/bin

ie:

/usr/local/bin/psremote

---------
#!/bin/bash
export QT_PLUGIN_PATH=/home/{youruser}/Downloads/Chiaki-v1.2.1-Linux-x86_64.AppImage
/home/{youruser}/Downloads/Chiaki-v1.2.1-Linux-x86_64.AppImage
---------

Then simply chmod +x /usr/local/bin/psremote, and chown {youruser} /usr/local/bin/psremote

Then you can just launch it with 'psremote' from anywhere.
