LinuxPhoronix recently published an article regarding a ~200 lines Linux Kernel patch that improves responsiveness under system strain. Well, Lennart Poettering, a RedHat developer replied to Linus Torvalds on a maling list with an alternative to this patch that does the same thing yet all you have to do is run 2 commands and paste 4 lines in your ~/.bashrc file.

AMD joins Intel's MeeGo OS effort  View Printable Version

AMD64In an effort to expand software compatibility for its upcoming Fusion chips, Advanced Micro Devices on Monday joined rival Intel's efforts to develop the open-source MeeGo OS.

AMD "will provide engineering expertise intended to help establish the technical foundations for next-generation mobile platforms and embedded devices," the company said in a blog post on its website. Joining the development effort could help expand market opportunities for its Fusion chips, the company said.

HowtoLet's see how to install 3 plugins that will help your vim or approach becomes increasingly become a true IDE. I must say that since I started using it I am fascinated with this editor that although costs a lot to learn to use it at first, it is worth. But until now, had some disadvantages compared to a real IDE like Eclipse or NetBeans because it lacks some amenities that these programs offer.

Mandriva Linuxmikala has done KDE 4.5.3 packages for Mandriva 2010 Spring, thank you !! this time (or at least for now) the packages aren't available in KDE FTP as usual but in Mandriva Italia Backports (MIB) FTP.

General NewsFollowing the fork in the open office suite development and the foundation of The Document Foundation, the dispute with main sponsor Oracle appears to have come to a head. More than 30 leading figures in the German-language section who have previously donated their time to the OpenOffice.org project have announced their resignations. They include almost all of the core figures in the German-language branch of the project, which now finds itself without leadership.

Mandriva LinuxI hadn't noticed, but there are Mandriva 2010 Spring packages for KDE 4.5.2 available since some days now on KDE FTP. I currently don't know whom to thank but thank you !! (neoclust maybe ??) Packages for both i586 and x86_64 are available. Here are the upgrade instructions.
