General NewsThe MeeGo community has "opened the repositories" on early code for the netbook-oriented Linux platform, which combines Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo. Images are available for the MeeGo distribution infrastructure and OS base "from the Linux kernel to the OS infrastructure up to the middleware layer."

Novell Wins Again - Jury Rules Copyrights Didn't Go to SCO!  View Printable Version

Open SourceIt's over. The jury has found that the copyrights did not go to SCO under the APA or anything else. The verdict is in. Novell has the news up on their website already, but I heard it from Chris Brown also.

KDEThe KOffice team is happy to announce the first beta of the upcoming 2.2 release of KOffice. This release brings back Kexi, the data management application similar to MS Access. The new beta also offers many new features and improvements, for example improved support for Microsoft file formats with the addition of import filters for MS OOXML, and bug fixes.

So to make it quick, the Régie des Rentes du Québec (Social insurance program) migrated all of their workstation from Windows XP to Vista and upgraded Microsoft Office to 2007. Savoir-faire Linux, a Montreal based compay specializes in free software services. Savoir-faire Linux has made several requests to the Régie des rentes du Québec but the organisation is maintaining its decision to renew their software without launching a call for tenders. Savoir-faire Linux is now calling upon the courts to declare that the Régie cannot proceed in this manner and that it must give all suppliers, including free software suppliers, the chance to bid.

Exscript supports a wide range of features, such as parallelization, AAA authentication methods, TACACS, and a very simple template language. KDEKonsole is the X terminal emulator of KDE. I find having the terminal out of my way, but always open and easy to reach out to, very convenient. It also looks cool. With KDE SC 4.3 you can easily achieve this with a few clicks without the need of any additional software.
