A Radical New Router  View Printable Version
Saturday, July 11 2009 @ 04:07 AM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

HardwareFrom /.:

A new router, designed by one of the creators of ARPANET, manages flows of packets instead of only managing individual packets. The router recognizes packets that are following the first and sends them along faster than if it had to route them as individuals. Saturday, July 04 2009 @ 03:54 PM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

Just a while back a colleague told me, I have upgraded Ubuntu and now my server won't work, can you help me? Or constantly I get people telling me: "I have tried Clone of Clone X, Y, Z, it looks nice, but then I upgraded and it hosed my system."

Mandriva LinuxBeing worked on as part of Mandriva's next Linux distribution update is a technology they are referring to as Speedboot. Speedboot will be officially introduced with Mandriva Linux 2009.1, and compared to the normal boot process, it begins initializing some processes early on while it postpones other tasks until after the graphical display manager has shown. In essence, the user is logging into their Linux desktop even before the system is fully booted. We have some timed results of Mandriva's Speedboot along with videos showing the differences.
