Introducing µTorrent for Linux  View Printable Version
Saturday, October 09 2010 @ 02:28 PM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

General NewsIf you've ever looked into the various programs available to download via bittorrent, you will probably have discovered µtorrent. Back then it was probably already tiny and full-featured at the same time. It even had customizations to better run inside WINE. But it didn't run natively on Linux. Of course that made the very low resource bittorrent client much more resource hungry. Now this all changed.

New Mageia development release name has been chosen, Cauldron!  View Printable Version
Monday, September 27 2010 @ 07:09 AM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

General NewsSince we’re starting with a new base, a brand new name for the development release in Mageia needed to be found.

This was one of the – many – tasks that needed to be done to get Mageia going (although admittedly one of the fun tasks ). Olivier Thauvin, aka Nanar, accepted to take on this task and things started rolling when he posted a new thread in the mageia-discuss mailing list, with a couple of initially proposed names.

VMware is buying Novell  View Printable Version
Friday, September 17 2010 @ 09:23 AM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

General NewsI'm not the least bit surprised that the Wall Street Journal is reporting that VMware will be buying Novell's Linux business. After all, I suggested that VMware could really use Novell's SUSE Linux for its future, and I also knew that Novell was in hot and heavy merger and acquisition talks earlier this week. My own sources have also now confirmed that VMware is Novell's suitor.

General NewsIt’s test day time again, folks, and this one’s a biggie! You may have read about the brand new initialization system, systemd, written by Lennart Poettering. At the moment, we’re planning to use it as the default initialization system for Fedora 14. Obviously, this is a bold step with a fairly new piece of code.
