This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to install VMware Server 2 on a Mandriva 2009.0 desktop system. With VMware Server you can create and run guest operating systems ("virtual machines") such as Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, etc. under a host operating system. Mandriva rallies the community of Linux users in many cities across the globe on November 22nd, November 2008.

In order to bring Linux to new users and present the new features and technologies available in Mandriva Linux 2009, Mandriva is mobilizing its network of Linux User Groups (LUGs) to coordinate a worldwide Installfest on November 22nd, November 2008.

Installations of Mandriva Linux One and Free will take place all around the world, thanks to the Linux community. Major participating locations will include the United States, China, Poland, Argentina avd France. Last year, Mandriva install fests gathered more than 1,500 participants in more than 60 cities in 20 countries such as the United States, Argentina, China and Morocco. This major event was covered in all media.

Mandriva One has everything that a home PC user should require, including a graphics suite (GIMP), document viewer (Gwenview), Office suite (OpenOffice.org 3.0), audio player (Amarok), Movie player (Totem) and latest version of Firefox web browser. Of course, I need not say that Mandriva 2009 comes bundled with KDE 4.1.2 or GNOME 2.24 depending upon the live CD you downloaded. So you get all the applications that are part of these fabulous desktopenvironments.

French software firm Mandriva has released a version of its Linux distribution designed for netbooks. Aimed at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs), Mandriva Mini is a faster booting, smaller footprint version of the Mandriva desktop distribution, says Mandriva.

Based on Mandriva 2008, which was released last October, Mandriva Mini is designed to work onUsmall format, low-cost netbooks, which typically have screens ranging from 7 to 10 inches. It is said to support key netbook platforms, such as products based on the Intel Atom. According to a recent report on netbooks by Market Intelligence Center (MIC), netbooks will achieve sales of 8.02 million units in 2008, and 18.3 million units in 2009.

Everything is OK with this Laptop, just one issue- It has Vista Basic. Now Vista Basic does not have the cool features of Home Premium, nor is it as snappy as Windows XP. Dell also installs a 30-days subscription of McAffee anti-virus, which although secures the system, but at the same time further makes Vista slower.
