How To Install VMware Server 2 On A Mandriva 2009.0 Desktop  View Printable Version
Thursday, November 20 2008 @ 11:57 PM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

Mandriva LinuxThis tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to install VMware Server 2 on a Mandriva 2009.0 desktop system. With VMware Server you can create and run guest operating systems ("virtual machines") such as Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, etc. under a host operating system. This has the benefit that you can run multiple operating systems on the same hardware which saves a lot of money, and you can move virtual machines from one VMware Server to the next one (or to a system that has the VMware Player which is also free).

Mandriva 2009 helps new users to grow  View Printable Version
Thursday, October 16 2008 @ 11:34 PM CST
Contributed by: Linegod

Mandriva LinuxFrom Linux.com:

Back when Mandriva was called Mandrake, the distribution had the reputation of being the most user-friendly Linux distribution. Financial difficulties, personnel changes, and the rise of Ubuntu changed that, and somehow Mandriva never quite regained its reputation. With this week's release of Mandriva 2009, Mandriva has continued to work on user-friendliness. Aside from a poorly organized installation program and a few scattered problems, Mandriva 2009 offers a desktop experience that is at least the equal of any other distribution for everyday use and that has a strong claim of being the most, advanced available for system administration.

Mandriva LinuxFrom Lazy Tech Guy:

Everything is OK with this Laptop, just one issue- It has Vista Basic. Now Vista Basic does not have the cool features of Home Premium, nor is it as snappy as Windows XP. Dell also installs a 30-days subscription of McAffee anti-virus, which although secures the system, but at the same time further makes Vista slower.

Mandriva LinuxFrom phoronix:

Along with VIA releasing a new open-source X.Org video driver, there is work underway on improving the status of another open-source graphics driver.
