Contributed by: Linegod

Mandriva LinuxFrom Linux Journal:

In mid-January of 2008, the French Linux distribution maker Mandriva and its Japanese counterpart, Turbolinux, announced a partnership to create a common base Linux system, as well as a joint development lab, logically dubbed "Manbo-Labs".

As each each player in the distribution game seeks to offer a compelling product that sets itself apart in a competitive, innovation-packed marketplace, we are curious to know how the players themselves view their strategies. Linux Journal Products Editor, James Gray, recently caught up with Mandriva CEO, François Bancilhon, to find out his take on the new partnership.

Mandriva LinuxFrom Checkerap:

It’s been three months now, since I started using Mandriva 2008 at work. I work at a web dev company where we do PHP/AJAX/XHTML/CSS stuff. Three months ago, by the time I came into the company, we received laptops and some of us decided to use Linux. I used Linux at home so this was nice. Everyone chosed a distro he was used to. I chosed Mandriva 2008.

Contributed by: Linegod

Mandriva LinuxFrom Linux.com:

Mandriva is the only Linux maker that offers a version of its distribution packaged with and designed to run off a USB stick. True, you can install virtually any Linux distro onto an external USB device, but Mandriva Flash 2008 offers you a complete solution, including a USB stick with pre-installed version of Mandriva Linux and a CD containing a few useful tools. It's a worthwhile package, though not without room for improvement.

Mandriva 2008 vs Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon  View Printable Version

Mandriva LinuxFrom Free Software Magazine:

For those of you that follow my blog, you must have noticed that I’m a Mandriva user. Recently though, I took an interest in Ubuntu: I installed version 7.04 on a laptop, and it did look interesting, enough to make me doubt my commitment to Mandriva’s products.

Thus, when 7.10 came out with a bang in the media, and I got another laptop to de-borgify, I downloaded the Ubuntu 7.10 ISO along with the install CD for Mandriva 2008.0 Free.

So, I did a test drive, trying to level the field as much as possible. Here are the results.
